The Latest on Dania Denise: Work, Work & More Work!

Hello all my beloved blog readers! I know I haven't been adding posts as frequently as I used to but I've been so busy--don't worry, I have not forgotten about you all and my duty to providing you with tips, information, and resources about the modeling industry.

Since I started working from home full-time (art business, modeling, acting, writing, teaching), my schedule began filling up with clients, projects, and yes, modeling work. I actually got back into acting as well and spent two days last week shooting for an educational company that wanted actors to portray college students and executive professionals for a CD-ROM that will be going in the back of textbooks. That shoot was a lot of fun.

I'm still following up on past shoots I've done over the months...you know how difficult it can be to get copies and tearsheets, but I'm fighting for 'em! Soon as I get a hold of them, I'll definitely be sure to post them here.

It's starting to get to crunch time with the Miss California USA Pageant. This weekend I head to Palm Springs for orientation, where we'll be getting our photos taken for the pageant program book and we'll also be doing a swimwear shoot, as well as learning the choreography and staging. This year the pageant is going to be taking place at the Riviera Resort and Spa...it looks amazing from the photos and I can't wait to be there in person.

I've got to get my interview suit dry cleaned and I've ordered a couple of evening gowns that I'm waiting for in the mail. Once I've tried everything on, I'll be able to narrow down my choices.

I also have a red carpet/media event to promote the pageant down in the Los Angeles Fashion District the following weekend after I get back from the orientation so I'll be doing more traveling as well.

So there's a lot going on but I'm loving every minute! Stay tuned, more model info to follow!

I am glad that you are busy but enjoying yourself! That is what is most important :) Have fun at the resort too, and of course, best of luck with the pageant! If they are looking for an articulate, intelligent, poised and beautiful woman, then I cannot think of a better candidate.

Want to Be a Victoria's Secret Model?

(*Due to the number of comments and questions I get from aspiring models about working for VS, please be sure to read my post on this very carefully. If you don't meet all of these requirements then you cannot become a model for VS. If you are not tall enough, if you are not signed to a top agency, your chances are not good. Male Models & Height

(This particular post is in reference to male models seeking to do fashion and runway modeling only, not commercial/print.) So I realize that many of my posts are directed at female models because, well, there are so many of them out there! But I do acknowledge and recognize the male models out there, too, and believe me I do my best to try and squeeze in posts that relate to you guys as well. Modeling and Weight

One of the first things I hear potential models ask is what the weight requirement for modeling is. Sometimes that is the main issue they worry about when it comes to pursuing modeling. Let me tell you right now that weight should NOT be one of those concerns. Obviously, the height requirement reigns supreme when measuring up to the modeling standards sought out by agencies. If you meet the height requirements--whether it's for fashion and runway or commercial/print--that is the first step towards starting on the path to modeling. How much you weigh shouldn't be your biggest fear. It is rare that anyone can look at someone and say, "Oh, my gosh, he/she looks like they are 5 pounds over our weight requirement!" It just isn't realistic. If you look at many modeling agency websites, they clearly list the age and height requirements--rarely, if at all do they list any weight restrictions.
