Chanel Iman is an exception to the VS requirements because she was already an established supermodel. If you are a new model that is not yet known or who hasn't done a lot of top caliber work, you have to follow the standard requirements of being signed to Ford or Elite in New York. Having previous/current star power always allows some models to skip over certain requirements and automatically get considered for VS. You'll notice that 99.9% of the VS models who don't fall under the VS requirements/guidelines (i.e. being signed to other agencies in or outside of New York) were already popular and famous by the time they were hired to work for VS. Hi dania, so my question is when submitting pic to agencies how do I wear my hair? I'm black and I have natural hair so I can wear curly in two ways. Is it better to go with the shrinked up look or is it better to wear it dry in a big afro I don't know which is best. when my hair shrinks it reaches barely the nape of my neck. When is it stretched out it's much bigger so what do agencies prefer?

(*Due to the number of comments and questions I get from aspiring models about working for VS, please be sure to read my post on this very carefully. (This particular post is in reference to male models seeking to do fashion and runway modeling only, not commercial/print.) Modeling and Weight

One of the first things I hear potential models ask is what the weight requirement for modeling is. Sometimes that is the main issue they worry about when it comes to pursuing modeling. Let me tell you right now that weight should NOT be one of those concerns. Obviously, the height requirement reigns supreme when measuring up to the modeling standards sought out by agencies. If you meet the height requirements--whether it's for fashion and runway or commercial/print--that is the first step towards starting on the path to modeling. How much you weigh shouldn't be your biggest fear. It is rare that anyone can look at someone and say, "Oh, my gosh, he/she looks like they are 5 pounds over our weight requirement!"
